Meaningful Education for our Kids

Families deserve a school trustee who truly knows the education system—one who will work with integrity alongside parents, staff, and local government to tackle the challenges of our rapidly growing district.

What Drives Me

With 25 years of leadership in education and the non-profit sector, my focus has always been clear. Decisions in our schools should be driven by student success, not political agendas. Politics do not belong in classrooms—learning does. The Township of Langley deserves a dedicated trustee who puts students first. This role isn't a political stepping stone for me; education is my passion.

Tina brings a powerful combination of deep commitment to education and an unwavering focus on equity. She is dedicated to creating stable school policies while remaining fiercely attentive to the unique needs of vulnerable learners in our community.

Community Roots

TOL Community Member

I have lived in the Township of Langley since 2005. My children have grown up here, attending local preschools, elementary, and high schools. Throughout their education, I actively volunteered in their classrooms, on school PACs, the Langley DPAC, and Dry Grad committees, as well as proudly supporting the Langley School District Foundation. I still regularly attend Langley School Board meetings to stay informed about the decisions shaping our district.

As a parent of diverse learners, I  personally navigated both the public school system and The Centre for Child Development. I have also advocated for our community supporting the Inclusion Langley Society and leading the FiT (Families in Touch) Network, where I collaborated with stakeholders to foster inclusive environments for families of children with special needs.

Beyond family and the classroom, giving back is a core part of who I am. As an active community member, I have coached and served as team parent for North Langley Baseball and North Langley Basketball, volunteered extensively with North Langley Football and the Langley Rams Junior Football Clubs.

Proven Experience from Every Angle

As a long-term Township of Langley resident, parent, and veteran educator—including leadership roles as an Aboriginal Learning Department Head and Acting Vice-Principal—I offer a unique, 360-degree understanding of our school system. Having served as a Gifted Teacher Facilitator and Aboriginal Teacher Advocate, I know firsthand how boardroom policies directly impact our diverse learners, front-line educators, and daily classroom realities.

Effective governance in a rapidly growing district like TOL requires proven collaborative leadership. Through my decades of service chairing Joint Health & Safety, Staff, and Pro-D committees, I have mastered the operational skills necessary for a trustee. I am highly experienced in managing public funds, building consensus among diverse stakeholders, navigating complex organizational constraints, and designing strategic school growth plans.

As your trustee, I will be a dedicated change agent for safety, equity, and resource allocation. My career is defined by driving anti-racism initiatives and implementing the Aboriginal Principles of Learning to foster cultures where "We all Belong." I am fully prepared to ensure TOL families are heard, our teachers are supported, and every single student has the resources to thrive.

My Key Commitments to Township of Langley Families

Classroom to Boardroom: A 360° Vision

Capacity & Growth

  • Langley is experiencing explosive growth, adding 700–800 students annually. The overcrowding on the Willoughby Slope is a critical challenge. While projects like Emery Dosdall Secondary and stɑtl̓əw̓ Middle School are underway, the immediate pressure on class sizes and portables is felt by students today.

  • As your trustee, I will relentlessly advocate for accelerated capital funding, ensuring that "temporary" solutions never compromise the quality of our learning environments.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Proactive Community Consultation and clear communication that does not use jargon is essential so that families are consulted before major district changes are implemented.

  • An effective school board must be accountable to the community it serves.  I am fully committed to ensuring that Township of Langley families, educators, and community members are never left in the dark about the policies and budgets affecting our children.

Mental Health and Resiliency

  • Through my 26 years in the classroom, I know one thing is certain: a student in crisis cannot learn. With the high demand for mental health supports seen in recent budget consultations, I will be a fierce advocate for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-integrated practices like Project Resiliency.

  • I will fight to maintain and improve these specialized supports, even when budgets are tight, because student well-being is the foundation of academic success.

  • Equity must move beyond scans and paper policies into classroom practice. This means establishing a robust anti-racism action plan and fully implementing our Accessibility Plan.

  • "Walking the talk" means moving beyond symbolic gestures—like the naming of schools—to systemic changes that measurably improve graduation rates for our most vulnerable to our gifted learners.
